Dr Richard Doyle has been on the TWS committee for five years, the last four
as secretary. Richard is a cool climate wine lover and strong advocate of single
site wines and the idea of wine regionality, best expounded in the French
concept of terroir.
He is a Senior Lecturer in Soil Science with the School of Agricultural
Sceince and the Tasmanian Institute of Agricultural Research at the University
of Tasmania. He has given many seminars and talks, often accompanied with Phil
Laing, on the relationship of soil and geology to vineyard site suitability and
to wine quality. He is currently supervising a PhD study by Sam Rees into
viticultural soils and Pinot Noir vigour.
His wife Robyn is also a wine lover and thus getting to know Tasmania's
wonderful Pinot Noir, bubbles and aged Riesling's are a mutually rewarding
hobby. Robyn and Richard have toured all the Pinot Noir regions of the world and
post-children they plan to repeat this fantastic journey, call it quality
assurance!

Treasurer - Phil Dunham
|
Phil along with his wife and partner Eunice, are owner operators of their 2.2
hectare Parallax organic vineyard.

or so and Treasurer for the last 3.
After years of searching, Parallax finally became a reality for Phil and
Eunice in 2004. Whilst still developing the property for vineyard production,
November 2006 saw the first plantings of Pinot Noir and Riesling.
“It’s been a terrific challenge, especially being totally organic, most times
tiring, but always rewarding.”
“Working in the Media, I met lots of interesting and lovely people all over
the world. Happily, whilst remaking myself as an organic viticulturist, I’m
still meeting interesting and wonderful people in the world of
wine.”
